How the guest list, share link, hosting, advertising, and third-party services work.
Names and assignments
Potluck Wheel runs the assignment in your browser. No account is required, and the guest list is not uploaded to a Potluck Wheel server or database to run the spin. Potluck Wheel does not have user accounts and does not store your guest lists. The site uses the browser’s ordinary random source for the shuffle.
Share links
When you choose Copy share link, the page encodes the names, selected categories, targets, and assignments in the URL hash (the part after #). Browsers do not send the hash to the web server when they request the page, so loading a shared table does not upload the list to Potluck Wheel’s hosting. However, anyone who receives that link can open the same table and see those names. Share it only with people you intend to include. The link can also remain in browser history, messages, email, or other places where you paste it, and services you paste it into may store it under their own policies.
Hosting: Cloudflare
The site is a set of static pages hosted on Cloudflare. Ordinary page and asset requests pass through Cloudflare, which may process delivery and security information such as IP addresses, browser details, and request details, as described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Advertising: Google AdSense
The home page and content pages load a Google AdSense script, and ads may appear on those pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. Where required, Google may show a consent message before using cookies for ads.
Tips: Ko-fi
The footer of the home page loads a Ko-fi tip button script from Ko-fi’s servers. Visiting Ko-fi or leaving a tip is optional; Ko-fi handles that interaction under its own privacy policy and terms.
Cookies
Potluck Wheel itself does not set tracking cookies. Third-party services described above (Google and Ko-fi) may set or read cookies under their own policies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
If you email Potluck Wheel, the message and your email address are received in that mailbox and used to reply. They are not added to a mailing list.
Children
Potluck Wheel is a general-audience planning tool and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If the services used by the site change, this page will be updated, with the date shown below.
